Email Setup

Set up a POP3 email account on an Android phone.

  1. Open the email app on your Android phone.
  2. Tap on the menu icon (usually three horizontal lines) in the top left corner of the screen.
  3. Select "Settings" from the menu.
  4. Tap on "Add account" or "Add email account".
  5. Enter your email address and password.
  6. Choose "POP3" as the account type.
  7. Enter the incoming mail server (POP3 server) of mail.4cdg.com and the outgoing mail server (SMTP server) of mail.4cdg.com.
  8. Choose the security type, None.
  9. Enter the port numbers for both incoming and outgoing servers. Incoming is most likely 110, and outgoing is most likely 587. Also make sure all ssl is turned off.
  10. Choose to use authentication, and enter your username and password if required.
  11. Tap "Next" and give your account a name.
  12. You may have the option to sync your email and contacts with your Android device. Choose the options you prefer.
  13. Tap "Finish" to complete the setup.

Once you've completed these steps, your email account should be set up on your Android phone and you should be able to send and receive email.

Set up email on an iPhone for a POP server.

  1. Open the "Settings" app on your iPhone.
  2. Scroll down and tap on "Passwords & Accounts."
  3. Tap on "Add Account."
  4. Select "Other" at the bottom of the list of email providers.
  5. Tap on "Add Mail Account."
  6. Enter your name, email address, password, and a description of the account.
  7. Tap "Next."
  8. Choose "POP" as the account type.
  9. Enter the incoming mail server settings, mail.4cdg.com, your entire email address as the user name, and password. (make sure ssl is turned off on any slide switch) Incoming port is most likely 110 but try it with default settings first.
  10. Enter the outgoing mail server settings, mail.4cdg.com, your entire email address as the user name, and password. (make sure ssl is turned off on any slide switch) Outgoing port is most likely 587 but try it with the default settings first
  11. Tap "Save" to finish the setup process.

Once you've completed these steps, you should be able to access your email account on your iPhone using the built-in Mail app.

Set up a POP3 email address on Office 365.

  1. Sign in to your Office 365 account and navigate to the Outlook app.
  2. Click on the gear icon in the upper right corner and select "View all Outlook settings."
  3. In the left pane, select "Sync email."
  4. Under "POP and IMAP," toggle on the option to enable POP.
  5. Scroll down to the "POP settings" section and note the server name and port number provided.
  6. Open your preferred email client (e.g., Outlook, Thunderbird) and navigate to the account settings.
  7. Add a new account and select "POP" as the account type.
  8. Enter your full email address for the user name and the server name and port number provided in step 5.
  9. Configure the incoming and outgoing email server settings according to your email service provider's instructions. (mail.4cdg.com is the server name in and out, incoming port is 110, outgoing port is most likely 587) Make sure any ssl settings are off or none.
  10. Complete the setup process and test the account to ensure that you can send and receive emails.

Change Your Account Password in Thunderbird

  1. Click on the sandwich button in the upper-right of Thunderbird.
  2. Click on Settings.
  3. Open the menu item Privacy and Security.
  4. Under the section entitled Passwords, click on Saved Passwords....
  5. You will now see a list of all accounts in Thunderbird. By clicking on Show Passwords, you will display the corresponding passwords.
  6. Confirm by clicking on Yes.
  7. You will now see your password next to your email address in the column Password.
  8. Double click on password to change.
  9. Click Close
